When stepping up from shorter to longer trips, keeping your gear organised and accessible on the road is an absolute pleasure. We believe drawers are one of the touring essentials, in fact we can’t imagine life on the road without them!

Drifta Drawers

If you’ve done a little reading, you’ll be well aware of the endless options that Drifta and many companies offer. We wanted two big drawers and chose to stack them – this meant we could use a  more compact fridge slide rather than a bulky drop down one and it also created a packing shelf. Combining this shelf with a cargo barrier and we can now pack to the roof and maximise our storage. The space down the sides is convenient for larger items like our fire pit, but can be loaded with anything.

The table half pulled out makes the perfect bench.

The table picture left stows in the slot between drawers and is our main camping table.

Drifta drawers are built from sturdy plywood – it’s strong, doesn’t rattle and is easily customisable.

The drawers run on Teflon strips and it’s a really simple and effective design. The benefits are two fold – firstly there is nothing to break and secondly, no precious drawer space is taken up by metal runners.

As well as the table and fridge slide you can see, Drifta supplied us with a cargo barrier and a 40L water tank that fits neatly in the void between the seat and bottom drawer. We also optioned the gear tray which you can see below, working hard keeping all our carry items both neat and accessible.

We live on the other side of the country to Drifta however that wasn’t an issue. The whole unit arrived ready to clip into existing points. Two Toyota tie points required a simple 90-degree rotation and the other two needed replacing with the kit’s T system. So the drawers, water tank included, were installed super quickly and the cargo barrier didn’t take much longer!

Drifta drawers are Australian made and ours are off to a great start having taken the Kimberley in their stride!
