Compact
The iKamper Awning is a compact and packable accessory rather than the mounted standard and wing awnings many will be familiar with.
The poles are sturdy and collapse with an elasticised core like hiking tent poles. They also have height adjustable ends which makes it easy to create clearance for tall campers like me.
Setup
Similar to the iKamper Annex Room, setup started by zipping the awning onto the iKamper. On this trip, we were using the Skycamp 2X, but the same awning is compatible with the Skycamp 4X and X-Cover tents as well.
With the awning attached it really was simply a case of attaching the guy ropes (which we left tied on for next time), placing the poles and pegging it out.
Pack up was even quicker and the awning, poles, pegs and guy ropes all fitting back the bag with ease.
iKamper Awning Coverage
The iKamper Awning extends 280cm from the iKamper and is 430cm long. In comparison to almost an awning this is a massive shelter!
One of the most appealing features though is that the entrance to the tent has full coverage. Of course, this is most helpful in wet conditions, but we found in the warmth of our recent Northern Territory trip, it meant the large door was well shaded – which meant the tent was cooler during afternoon siesta.
The 150D Polyester has a 3,000mm PU coating and central seam is seam sealed to make it waterproof.
