It’s hard to beat big battery storage for travelling off-grid, and the REDARC BCDC1250D is an incredibly fast way to get those batteries fully charged.

REDARC BCDC1250D

The REDARC BCDC1250D is designed for use with bigger battery banks of 200 Ah and larger. It works with all common battery types, but increasingly travellers are using lithium systems in both vehicles and camper trailers alike. Lithium batteries perform exceptionally well, plus they offer weight savings and increased longevity.

The 50 in BCDC1250D is the charging output – 50A. It’s incredibly fast! For example, presuming a lithium battery is used, a 200Ah battery at 50% charge, or 100Ah will be back at 100% in roughly 2 hours of driving.

REDARC BCDC1250D

The REDARC BCDC1250D is what’s known as an in-vehicle DC-DC charger. For those new to this, it simply means that the charger stays permanently mounted in the vehicle or camper and charges the vehicle’s batteries from the alternator.

The BCDC1250D also has an inbuilt solar regulator. For those with fixed roof-mounted solar panels, it can charge from both solar and the alternator simultaneously. The solar panels have priority, and the remainder is fed in from the alternator; it’s designed to reduce the load on the alternator when possible.

Most auto electricians fit an Anderson Plug to the solar inlet. For those travelling with solar blankets or portable panels, it’s a simple process of plugging in to keep batteries topped up on non-driving days.

REDARC BCDC1250D

While the REDARC BCDC1250D is designed to be used in extreme climatic conditions, it performs best when not mounted inside hot engine bays. Commonly they are installed in the cooling airflow in the front of the radiator. With the correct gauge wiring, though, it’s possible to mount them almost anywhere within your adventure mobile.

There are various mounting brackets on the market. Ultimate 4WD laser cut their own as shown in this 200 Series LandCruiser.

Made in Australia the REDARC BCDC1250D is built to last. REDARC products have earned a reputation for being set and forget easy to use and for performing extreme recreational and industrial environments.
